Allergy prevention when employing Builders

Learn how to get allergy relief by pre-planning your next building project. If you are employing a builder, have a chat with him about keeping the dust to a minimum. And don't be afraid to ask him what steps he will be taking to keep the dust to a minumum. If you suffer from allergies, the probability of suffering an allergy attack is significantly increased when you are exposed to dust. Guess what happens when you begin a remodelling project and you don't take the necessary measures to limit the amount of dust produced. You suffer with your allergy!

Nearly every one us have experienced allergies at one time or another. The runny nose, itchy, watery eyes, and sneezing. Symptoms of allergies can strike any time or any place, determined by what the allergy trigger is for an individual. If it is dust and dust mites, you need to take every one of the necessary precautions that you can.

The instant your builder begins a building job, dust will flow everywhere. Your house will attract more dust and it will become a gigantic dust collector. You will not be able to clean it all up. Attempting to clean the dust during a house remodelling project is like shoveling snow during a snow storm. It’s a battle that you are quite simply not going to win. This is why allergy proofing during any house remodelling project is very important.

Some of the best procedures to use are:

Plan you project in detail. Ask your general contractor which measures he is going to take to keep the dust to a bare minimum. Do not forget to inform your contractor if you have any allergies or suffer from Asthma. Keep children far away from the remodelled areas if at all achievable. If possible consider living some place else near your home. This way way, you should be able to stay far away from the dust but stay abreast of the remodelling development.

The remodelled area needs to be enclosed and sealed up. Your contractor should be hanging plastic sheeting and using barriers to contain the dust to the task areas. In addition, the HVAC ducts (if you have them), will have to be closed to prevent the dust from going to the remainder of the accommodation. After the reworking project is completed, it is likely to be a good idea to have your air ducts cleaned, you will need to use proper ventilation. If possible set up a fan blowing out of the window away from the work area.

Below are more tips:

Clean up the job area daily before winding up the day. Use a dust mask when you are within the building area. Change Air conditioner filters after the remodelling is finalized. Covering your furniture with plastic will limit the dust getting onto it.

So if you are an allergy sufferer and your preparing to start a building or home improvement project, it will be in your own best interest to pre-plan with your builder how to dust proof the working area. For those who have an upcoming home improvement project and want to learn more of the ways to confine the dust to the work area then, watch this space because there will be many more useful tips and concepts coming along very soon. Some of these are common sence to many people, but when you have not taken on a large development before, then you may not know about the many "tricks of the trade".

From builders, electricians, plumbers, gas engineers and painters to carpet fitters, tree surgeons, landscape gardeners and roofers, we have literally thousands of trades people on our database.

How we do it

Not every trader is a Right Trader! Our tradesman application process does not involve reference checks, insurance checks or checks for memberships at trade associations. Why? Because anyone can make this kind of information up - and they do. No, our tradespeople build their reputations on Right Trader with reviews from genuine clients. It's called crowd sourcing for information.

Why you need us

We take feedback very seriously. So we're fair to both our customers and our trades people. Not just anyone can leave a review. Feedback is only allowed from people who have employed that tradesman for a job from Right Trader.
